1. Premiere of the movie «Bishop Andrey»

On August 22 in Kyiv, a pre-premiere showing of the feature film about Metropolitan Andrey (Sheptytsky), «Bishop Andrey,» took place. Journalists, for whom afterwards was planned a press-conference with the participation of the authors of the film and representatives of the clergy of the UGCC, were invited to the showing of the film.

On August 20 the solemn inauguration of the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC), which today unites Ukrainian communities and organization from 30 countries of the world, took place in Kyiv. The congress will be conducted from August 20 to 22 in the Ukrainian House.
3. Bishop Walter (Paska) has passed away

With deep sadness we report that on August 16, 2008, after five months of illness, Bishop-emeritus of the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia Most Rev. Walter (Paska) passed away to His Lord.

On September 2 - 9 a meeting of the Synod of Bishops of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church will be held in Lviv. The main theme of the Synod will be the question of evangelization. “What does evangelization mean?” In a commentary for the Department of Information of the UGCC His Beatitude Lubomyr asked this question.
5. The Head of the UGCC visited youth gathered in the camp in Pidkamin’

In these days in the village of Pidkamin’, which is in the Lviv Region, the international ecumenical camp Zlahoda (Harmony) is being conducted. This event started in the 1990s and every time is held in a different country of Eastern Europe. The international ecumenical camp has already been held in Poland, Hungary, Belarus, Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Latvia. The purpose of this camp is reconciliation among nations and the interaction of the youth of different countries, so that they feel one understanding and responsibility for the fate of the whole world. This enables them to create jointly the future of their own states and also the one people of God.
6. Word of His Beatitude Lubomyr to those who suffered during the flood and those who help them

With divine permission a great misfortune has visited some of our regions: the rivers burst their banks and did very much harm, and even caused the death of a few dozen people. Also very huge, although the final calculation has not even yet been done, is the financial harm, about which the media reports in detail. With all our heart we express our sincere regret and compassion to the families of the victims.

This Tuesday the Most Rev. Dionisiy (Lyakhovych), Curial Bishop, returned from Australia. With a group of forty young people from Ukraine he took part in World Youth Day there. The trip was divided into two stages.

«Ordination is the moment when we consider our future and ask ourselves ‘What will the new bishop be like, what good will he do?'» So His Beatitude Lubomyr, Head of the UGCC, said in his sermon at the Liturgy on the occasion of the episcopal ordination of Bishop Taras (Sen'kiv), Auxiliary Bishop of the Eparchy of Stryj.
