On June 27, 2008, at 19.00 in Kyiv’s Bottega Gallery, a presentation of the photo album of Ihor and Nina Haydaj, "9 months + 3 days," was held. Photos of 45 families, co-authors mothers and fathers, together with newborn babies, taken by Ihor Haydaj over three years in maternity hospitals in Vienna and Kyiv are presented in this album. As we reported before, a photo-exhibition in the Ukrainian Home preceded this event, where 70 black-and-white large-format photos were presented with images of newborn babies in the first hours of life. The exhibition was held from May 29 to June 8.
The authors invited His Beatitude Lubomyr to write a word of introduction for this project. "On the road of life the human being needs love, to love and be loved. This is absolutely essential for everybody. For the child who is in the womb of the mother, or who has just appeared in the world, it is impossible to retell this truth in words. Love should be poured out from the heart of the mother into the heart of the child. Such is the theme of this album," the Head of the UGCC wrote in particular.
For his part Mr. Haydaj noted that he understood that, thanks to simple photos, we become witnesses of the sacred beginning of life, which is accompanied by streams of happiness and love. "The pictures have recorded only part of their feelings, but even this part is enough so that the radiation of love is felt. ‘Simple’ truths become obvious…," the author said.
