41. Modern religious song competition “Song of the heart” in the Lviv Archeparchy 20.05, [23:02] // News // UGCC News
On May 17, 2008, in the assembly hall of the Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God in Lviv, an archieparchial competition of modern religious songs "Song of the heart" took place. The participants were children from 7 to 18 years in age.

On May 17 in the chapel of Saint Andrew the First-called Apostle (Odesa, Himnaziyna St., 22/24), the competition of children's songs "Song of the heart," dedicated to the 1020th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus’ and the foundation of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church, and also the Year of Christian Vocation, was held. The concert was organized by the Catechetical Commission of the Odesa and Crimea Exarchate of the UGCC.

On May 18, at 12.00, on the Day in Memory of Victims of Political Repressions, in Kyiv on the territory of the National Historical-Memorial Preserve of the Bykovnya Graves, a memorial prayer service will be held. President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko will take part in the memorial events. The joint prayer will be led by heads and representatives of the traditional Christian Churches of Ukraine.

On May 7-9, 2008, priests of the Greek-Catholic Church who perform their ministry on the territory of Russia met with Bishop Joseph Werth. The meeting was devoted to catechizing people who belong to the Greek-Catholic Church on the territory of Russia.

From May 20 to 22, 2008, in Hungary, at the pilgrimage site of Mariapocs, a meeting of the Greek-Catholic Bishops of Europe will take place, reports the Diocese of Hajdudorog (Hungary).
46. Symposium of Catholic Universities of Central and Eastern Europe to take place in Lviv 09.05, [16:09] // News // Taras_H
On May 9-10 in Lviv the 5th Symposium of Catholic Universities of Central and Eastern Europe will be held. Rectors, vice-rectors and representatives of departments of international academic relations, and also representatives of the clergy will be received by the Ukrainian Catholic University, which is a member of the Association of Catholic Universities of Central and Eastern Europe.

For the first time in the history of the Cannes Film Festival, Ukraine will be presented at a pavilion in Village International, where traditionally the largest market-cinema festival in the world is held. During the festival six Ukrainian films will be shown.

On May 7, thanks to the joint efforts of seminarians, students, and teachers of the Ivano-Frankivs’k Theological Academy, and also youth and instructors of the Don Bosco Christian Youth Center, planting of greenery for the territory around the center and foundations of a future church was conducted.

On May 6, 2008, on the occasion of the patronal feast-day of Saint George’s Cathedral, the Most Rev. Ihor Voznyak, Archbishop of Lviv, celebrated a pontifical Divine Liturgy. With Archbishop Ihor concelebrated fathers-protopresbyters of the Lviv Archeparchy, Fr. Sviatoslav Shevchuk, Ph. D., Fr. Borys Gudziak, Ph.D., and priests of the Curia of the Lviv Archeparchy.

On May 31, 2008, the Ukrainian Catholic University extends an invitation to the charity folk-ball "Perelaz" (Turnstile). The purpose of the folk-ball is to collect funds to establish an educational scholarship named after Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky, which will support the best students of UCU.
