93. A catechetical seminar for sisters-catechists of the UGCC was held

On March 28-30, 2008, at the Retreat Center of the Curia of the Lviv Archeparchy (the village of Bryukhovychi) a catechetical seminar for sisters from various communities of the UGCC who are engaged in catechetical activity was held. The seminar was organized by the Catechetical Commission of the Lviv Archeparchy of the UGCC.

94. A Spiritual bouquet of prayers and cordial best wishes for His Beatitude Patriarch Lubomyr on the occasion of 50-th Anniversary of the Priesthood

On Sunday, March 30, 2008 St. Vladimir's Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral in Stamford, Connecticut sent out a spiritual bouquet of prayers and cordial best wishes to His Beatitude Lubomyr Cardinal Husar on the occasion of His Golden Anniversary of Priestly Ordination.

95. The Commission on Social Communication will conduct an on-line seminar on new journalism for the Church’s media

The seminar will consist of 19 lessons which will last from March 26 to August 15, 2008. It was prepared for the leaders and secretaries of the Church’s press-services, commissions and institutions, educational institutions and charitable organizations. The materials of the seminar will come to its participants by e-mail.

96. A Lenten retreat for personnel of the Patriarchal Curia in Lviv

“Consideration of Christ’s passion requires that we with love penetrate the mystery of God: He washes a man’s feet and by this shows Himself as the majestic God; He allowed human beings to try Him and with that shows Himself as the mighty God. Exactly at the time when he serves, when he washes the feet of His creatures, God deeply reveals Himself.” Such words of instruction sounded from the mouth of the Most Rev. Bishop Hlib Lonchyna, Bishop of the Curia of the Major Archbishopric of Kyiv and Halych of the UGCC, during a retreat for personnel of structures of the Patriarchal Curia in Lviv, on March 22, 2008.

97. 12 Christian youth organizations sign an agreement about cooperation

Recently the Christian youth communities of the Archeparchy of Lviv signed an agreement which will regulate the activity of the Coordinating Council. This council was created in 2007 to coordinate the activity of and support Christian youth organizations, communities, societies and movements of the Archeparchy of Lviv.

98. “The Confessions”

Recently the Svichado (Beacon) Press published the autobiographical work of Saint Augustine, “The Confessions,” which tells about his road to conversion and changes in his own life. The author shows us that every person, regardless of who, can become better. That is why it is no wonder that precisely in the period of Lent the press offers this book for reading, as a good example of sincere change and miraculous conversion.

99. A manual for priests for work with alcoholics was presented in Ternopil’

The manual was presented on March 17. During the next month the first printing of 500 copies of the book and a compact disk will be received by priests of eparchies of the UGCC all over Ukraine. So reported the head of the Inter-eparchial Sub-commission of the UGCC for a Sober Life, Fr. Andriy Lohin, who has a doctorate in moral theology. In total, the subcommittee plans to distribute among parish priests 3000 manuals. The book and ŃD are intended to help pastors of parishes to create and co-ordinate groups of mutual help for those who want to be delivered from alcohol addiction.

100. The youth of the Archeparchy of Kyiv improved their leadership skills

On March 14-16 the Youth Commission of the Kyiv Archeparchy and the Lay Leadership Center of UCU conducted lay leadership training in Obukhiv, Kyiv Region.
