On May 17, 2008, in the assembly hall of the Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God in Lviv, an archieparchial competition of modern religious songs "Song of the heart" took place. The participants were children from 7 to 18 years in age. The organizer of the competition in the Lviv Archeparchy was the Catechetical Commission of the Lviv Archeparchy. Professional musicians with experience of work with children joined the judges. The chairman of the jury was the proto-presbyter of the Zaliznychnyi Protopresbyterate, Fr. Yurii Volovetskyi.

According to the conditions of the competition, the theme of the songs had to represent the essence of the Christian vocation and be dedicated to the 1020-th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus'- Ukraine.

The winners of the competition were 15 children in three age categories who on June 13-14, 2008, will take part in the patriarchal-level competition of "Song of the heart."
