The UGCC parish in Greece celebrated its 10th anniversary

Recently the parish of the UGCC in Athens (Greece) celebrated its 10th anniversary. The participants of the celebration were the Most Rev. Dionisiy (Lyakhovych), Curial Bishop, and the Most Rev. Yulian (Voronovskyj), Eparch of Sambir and Drohobych.

During their stay in Greece, on Saturday May 10, Bishops Dionisiy and Yulian were able to meet with the Exarch for Greek Catholics of Byzantine tradition, Bishop Anarghyros (Printesis). The guests from Ukraine thanked him for the support and development of the Ukrainian parish. A meeting with the successor of Bishop Anarghyros, Bishop-elect Prof. Dimitrios Salachas (the episcopal ordination will take place on May 24) also was held. Father Dimitrios was grateful that Ukrainian immigrants support the Greek Catholic Church and promised subsequent help for development of the parish of the UGCC. Address
of His Beatitude Lubomyr,
Major Archbishop of Kyiv and Halych,
to the faithful of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church
and all people of good will
on the occasion of the Day of the Sick

Today – on the Sunday of the Paralytic – our Church, proposing that the faithful listen to the Gospel reading about the meeting of Jesus Christ and the paralytic near the font of Bethesda, wants to give special attention to the sick, and also to those who take care of them.

Each of us once in life was sick. We know many people who for a long period of time suffer from an illness which is often accompanied with great pain. It generates the inevitable question: "Why does a human being suffer?" None of us has the final answer to this. Some say that it is punishment for personal guilt; others say for the sins of the parents; another considers illness, as well as any other suffering, a test by which the Lord God educates us in holiness. In all those views there is something truthful, but we do not know the final answer...

The Head of the UGCC on the 1020th anniversary of the Baptism of Kyivan Rus’
09.05, [15:08]
"... We, realizing the content and particular value of the act of more than a millennium of antiquity [the Baptism of Kyivan Rus’- editor’s note] should celebrate it annually, and not only with external pomp but also with our daily life. It should not be assumed that it was dirtied with political considerations or calculations. We have to retain it at least on the spiritual and religious level at which the baptism took place 1020 years ago and try from year to year on the basis of what happened to our nation in the days of Prince Saint Volodymyr to make the annual celebration more and more sacred, as befits his real heirs not only in the bodily sense but foremost in the spiritual sense." These words were written by the Head of the UGCC in an address on the occasion of the 1020th anniversary of the Baptism of Kyivan Rus’. >>>

Head of the UGCC dreams that the words “Lviv-er” and “honest” become synonyms
06.05, [14:53]
“Every human being in this world has some dream. I also want the word ‘Lviv-er’ not only to be a description of an inhabitant of Lviv but also a synonym of the word ‘honesty.’ And it does not matter in which corner of the world a ‘Lviv-er’ would appear; it should be possible to say about him: ‘This is honest person.’ >>>
